Attendance
ATTENDANCE PROCEDURES
How do I report a student’s absence? Submit the Student Absence Form before 9:30 a.m. each day your student is absent.
What if my student arrives late? Please send them with a signed note that includes the student’s full name, date, and reason for being late. For medical appointments, provide a doctor’s note upon return.
What if my student has to leave early? See the Early Dismissal Procedure below.
What time is attendance taken? During the first 10 minutes of each class period.
ABSENCES
- Pick up students during passing periods when possible to minimize class disruptions. See the Bell Schedule.
- Do not call, email, or leave a voicemail for pickup requests—we cannot guarantee timely check-out.
- Do not text your student to come to the office. A note must be provided in the morning for all early dismissals.
- Students must bring a note or doctor’s excuse every time they return to school. They will receive an "Admit Slip" from the office to return to class.
- If your student feels unwell, they must visit the nurse first. The nurse will call home if pickup is necessary.
- Documentation – Excused/Unexcused Absences: Provide a doctor’s note or handwritten note within 3 days of the absence. Include the student’s full name, date(s) of absence, and parent/guardian name.
- Excessive Absences: Students with more than 8 absences in Fall or 10 in Spring must make up seat time in Truancy School. Truancy charges may be filed after 10+ absences in a six-month period or 3+ in four weeks. Excessive tardiness and early pickups count toward this total. More than 18 absences may result in loss of credit.
- Missed Work: If your student is able, they should email teachers from their Chromebook and check Google Classroom for assignments.
EARLY DISMISSAL PROCEDURE
- Send your student with a dismissal note the morning of the early release. The note must include:
- Student’s First and Last Name
- Time and Reason for Dismissal
- Parent Signature
- The Attendance Office will issue an Early Dismissal Pass. (Students are responsible for watching the time and showing their pass to the teacher.)
- Parent must come to the front office with a valid ID to check out the student.
Please send your student back with an appointment note upon return.
